This is event is reserved for students in grades 6th -8th only!

The Sharla D. Wooten Foundation is a non-profit organziation that focuses on empowering youth through education and civic engagement. This year’s National Youth HIV/AIDS Awareness Day incentivized research surveys are in partnership with Texas A & M University and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital using the “UTC”, Using The Connect survey program. Students will receive evidence-based health education and youth statistics aimed at promoting healthy choices.  This curriculum is designed to assess their knowledge effetivley within the targeted 6th to 8th grade levels.

Our Community Partner Educators inlcude:

  • Parkland Hospital – Health Education
  • Dallas County District Attorny’s Office – Texas Teen Sexting Laws
  • March To The Polls – Voter Education and Registrion
  • UTC’s mission is to identify youth health concerns and misconceptions within a safe environment among peers.

Topics Include:

  • Adult & Youth Relationships
  • Positive Communication
  • Health Awareness & Education
  • Problem Solving + Decision Making
  • Accessing Information
  • Proper and Improper Text Communication & Sharing

The Sharla D. Wooten Foundation understands the importance of parental boundaries and no contraception of any kind will be provided.

A light breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Due to limited space at Mountain View College, the event is restricted to students, staff, and presenters only. Parents may join us at Epic Water Park at their own cost.

STUDENT SURVEY INCENTIVE

Participating students will have an opprotunity to earn up to $100.00 for completing UTC Surveys over a period of time.  Survey participants will be paid with Amazon gift cards and they will be mailed to the particpants address that is provided when they enroll in UTC. The Sharla D. Wooten is not the responsible party for survey payment mailings.

One email address per student is required at for the survey enrollment. Duplicate address will result in delayed gift card mailings.

The surveys are strictly confidential and regulated by law.  No personal information will be referenced, sold or shared.

Parent Incentive

The Sharla D. Wooten Foundation will gift parents with a $25.00 gift card for each student participant.  The gift card will be mailed within 35 to 45 days after the event end date.
